Never
Re-Roof
Again.® Lifetime Interlock® metal roofing, installed across southern and eastern Wisconsin, from Milwaukee to Madison.
A Wisconsin roof gets everything: lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan that lands wet and heavy, ice at the eaves, hail in June, a derecho in July, and forty freeze-thaw swings between them. Asphalt answers with a shorter life and another tear-off. One interlocked aluminum roof answers once: nothing to rust, nothing for water to soak into and freeze inside, and a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating verified via Intertek against the hail. In writing: the Guardian Warranty, lifetime coverage, transferable to the next owner. And one plain fact up front: we have no Wisconsin office — our crews come from Roseville, Minnesota, and have since 2003.
Lifetime refers to the manufacturer's Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty — material and finish, for as long as the original purchaser owns the home, transferable once, workmanship excluded; conditions, exclusions and claim-response times are set out in the written warranty. Full warranty terms.
What changes when an Interlock metal roof goes on your Wisconsin home.
Fort Atkinson · Interlock Shake · Copper PennyFreezing doesn’t damage a roof. Freezing and thawing does.
Wisconsin does not just get cold; it swings. A February thaw, a March refreeze, forty-odd cycles a winter. Water works into an asphalt shingle's fiberglass mat, freezes, expands and delaminates it from the inside, and the roof gives up years before its warranty said it would. Aluminum has no mat and absorbs nothing, so the cycle has nothing to act on. The roof above went on in November 2023 — a multi-hip with a dormer and a copper-wrapped chimney; it has not been touched since.
Metal helps with ice dams. It does not cure them — and we will say so
An ice dam is heat escaping through the roof deck, melting snow that refreezes at the cold eave. Interlocked aluminum sheds sooner and does not rot when a dam forms, and the Guardian warranty names ice damming as an exclusion for exactly that reason. If your attic insulation or ventilation is the real problem, the visit will tell you before the roof does.
Recycled aluminum
Up to 95% recycled content, and the last tear-off your house is likely to need.
Class 4 impact rated — and honest about what that means
UL 2218 Class 4, verified via Intertek, is the highest impact rating a roof covering can carry: a 2-inch steel ball, dropped twice on the same spot, with no crack in the panel. Southern Wisconsin's June and July storms are why so many roofs from Madison to Waukesha are on their second asphalt covering in fifteen years. Ask your carrier what a Class 4 roof does to your premium; we will not quote a number for them.
Locked on four sides, with no fastener in the weather
A gale off Lake Michigan and a summer derecho find loose edges and gasketed screw heads the same way. Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides with the fasteners concealed. Wind resistance is warranted to 120 mph installed to manufacturer specification.
Class A Fire Rated Available — as a complete assembly
Worth being precise about, because plenty of roofers are not: under ASTM E108 the classification belongs to an assembly, not to a panel. Class A is available here, achieved with two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 15/32-inch plywood. Aluminum itself does not ignite.
Metal against asphalt, cedar and slate in Wisconsin: the part nobody puts in the pitch.
No prices here, on purpose. A Wisconsin roof price turns on pitch, tear-off, decking, ice-and-water coverage, how the eaves are detailed and how far you are from Roseville — a national average would tell you nothing true. This is what each material actually asks of you over the life of the house.

Lifetime — never re-roof again®One thing this table does not claim: none of these materials stops ice damming. Ice dams are caused by heat escaping through the roof deck, and they are a stated exclusion in the Guardian warranty. Metal helps — it sheds sooner and does not rot when a dam forms — but if your attic is the problem, we will say so. More straight answers →
Profiles we install: slate, cedar shingle, shake, Mediterranean tile, standing seam & solid copperThe look belongs to your home.
The performance belongs to the metal.
Slate
The formal character of quarried slate, at a fraction of the weight, in aluminum that cannot rust.
Cedar Shingle
Warm, dimensional cedar character with nothing for freeze-thaw to split and nothing to re-stain.
Shake
Deep shadow lines and hand-split texture, held down by the four-way interlock.
Mediterranean Tile
The barrel-tile silhouette at a fraction of the weight — no clay to crack in a freeze, nothing for hail to shatter.
Standing Seam
Clean vertical lines for a modern or farmhouse elevation, in the same interlocked aluminum.
Solid Copper
A living metal that weathers and changes. Usually chosen for a bay, a porch or a turret rather than a whole house.
Nine designer colors across the profiles, all in the Alunar® coating system. Every profile needs a minimum 3/12 roof slope. How the system works →

Fort Atkinson, Madison, Burlington and Birchwood — each photograph is one of our own installs, on file with its invoice, install date and crew, so you can ask us about any of them. No stock photography, no other state's work borrowed to fill a page. Below them, the same installs pinned on the live project map.

Milwaukee, Madison, Kenosha and Racine, Waukesha, Watertown, Janesville and Sheboygan.
No Wisconsin office, and we would rather say so than pretend. Our crews are dispatched from Roseville, Minnesota — four hours to Madison, four hours to Madison, four and a half to Milwaukee — and they have been making that drive since 2003: 602 documented installs, most of them in Milwaukee County, Dane County, Jefferson County, Waukesha County and Racine. If you are somewhere else in the state, ask and you will get a straight answer about scheduling rather than a maybe.
The questions Wisconsin homeowners ask first.
Where do your crews actually come from?
Roseville, Minnesota. There is no Wisconsin office, and we say so plainly because a lot of roofing websites do not. Crews and paperwork come from the entity's Roseville office — about four hours to Madison, four and a half to Milwaukee — and they have been making that drive for over twenty years. The service area is ten counties in the south and east of the state.
Does a metal roof stop ice dams?
No, and we will not tell you otherwise. Ice dams form when heat escaping through the roof deck melts snow that then refreezes at the cold eave — an insulation and ventilation problem that shows up as a roofing symptom. A smooth interlocked aluminum roof helps: it sheds sooner, and it does not rot when water backs up behind an ice ridge. But no roof covering eliminates ice damming, and it is a stated exclusion in the Guardian warranty. If your house dams now, the fix starts in the attic, and we will look at it with you at the estimate.
Will hail dent an aluminum roof?
Interlock aluminum is UL 2218 Class 4 impact rated, verified via Intertek, — the highest rating a roof covering can hold: a 2-inch steel ball dropped twice on the same spot with no crack in the panel. Very large hail can leave a cosmetic mark on any metal roof; the panel keeps its integrity and keeps shedding water. That is the difference from asphalt, where the same storm means granule loss, a claim and a replacement. Ask your carrier what a Class 4 roof does to your premium and to the cosmetic-damage terms of your policy.
Can my house carry a metal roof with Wisconsin snow on it?
Almost certainly, because the roof covering is the light part. Interlock aluminum weighs 0.4–0.7 lb per square foot depending on profile — a fraction of asphalt at about 2.5 and slate at about 10 — so it adds almost nothing to what your framing carries when a winter's snow, or a lake-effect dump off Lake Michigan, is sitting on it. The structural question is the snow load your framing was designed for, which is set by code for your county, not by the covering. A smooth interlocked surface also sheds rather than accumulates, so the sustained load is lower than on a shingle roof.
What area do you actually serve?
Ten counties in the south and east of Wisconsin: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Rock, Dane, Jefferson and Sheboygan — the Milwaukee metro (Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, West Allis, Greenfield, Waukesha), Madison and Dane County, Watertown and Jefferson County, Racine, Kenosha, Janesville and Sheboygan. Green Bay, the Fox Valley, Eau Claire, Hudson and the Northwoods are outside the current service area; if you are there, call and you will get a straight answer rather than a visit we cannot keep.
What does it cost?
More than asphalt on the day, and we do not publish a price per square, because it would be fiction. A Wisconsin roof price depends on pitch, complexity, tear-off, what is under the old covering, how the eaves are detailed for ice, and whether a hail claim is in play. We measure the roof and give you a fixed number in writing that does not move afterwards. The arithmetic that matters is against your second and third asphalt roof, not the first.
How the estimate works: three steps, no surprises.
